Fixed-scope build
What is fixed-scope build?
A fixed-scope build is a defined piece of software for a fixed price and a fixed date. Qanat writes the scope with you, quotes once against it, and carries the risk of the estimate being wrong. Twenty percent of the price is held back until you accept the work.
- Right for
- Anyone who needs a specific thing built and wants to know what it costs before committing.
- Wrong for
- Work where nobody can yet describe the outcome. Fixed price on an undefined scope produces either padding or a fight — take the two-week sprint instead and come back with a scope.

What is included
Everything below is in the price.
One defined thing, one price agreed before we start, one date. If it takes longer than we estimated, that is our problem.
- 01
A written scope you could hand to another developer and get the same thing
- 02
One fixed price, quoted against that scope and carried by us if the estimate was wrong
- 03
Software running in front of you early and every week after, never only at the end
- 04
20% of the price held back until you accept the finished build
- 05
The repository in your organisation from the first commit, IP assigned in the contract
Right for
Anyone who needs a specific thing built and wants to know what it costs before committing.
Wrong for
Work where nobody can yet describe the outcome. Fixed price on an undefined scope produces either padding or a fight — take the two-week sprint instead and come back with a scope.
We would rather lose the engagement than sell you the wrong one.
Questions
Fixed-scope build, answered
What happens if the build takes longer than you estimated?
You pay the quoted price. That is what fixed price means, and it is why we spend real time on the scope before quoting. What changes the price is you changing the scope — and we will tell you the cost before doing the work, not after.
How fast do we get a quote?
As fast as the scope allows — a clear brief can be quoted in days, a vague one cannot be quoted honestly at all. When a project is too undefined to price, we say so and propose a short paid discovery rather than inventing a number we would later have to revise.

A scope call, then a written scope and one fixed price against it. 20% of that price is held back until you accept the finished build, and the scope is yours to take elsewhere either way.
